The italodisco-scene of the 80s did leave quite a legacy. Most people find the genre cheesy and downright wrong, but I am sinfully compelled by their highspeed disco with chic moves and mindblowing synthesizer. Wish Keys hitsong “Orient Express” (above) was released in ‘83 and below Silver Pozzoli with “Around My Dream” from ‘84

Still in ‘89 a much very similar typ of music came out in Sweden. This is a video of the band So What from Västerås with their track “I Was Lucky”.

The italodisco-era eventually faded and was to some extent replaced with italo-house, eurodisco and such. But what I find fascinating is that you can find artists heavily influenced by italodisco still today. For instance, take Felix Da Housecats killer track “Ready 2 Wear” from 2005.

Or Miami Horrors first single “Don’t Be On With Her”. The video and track in itself is such an obvious italodisco-flirt, revamped with an electrotouch suitable for 2008. But still it is clearly influenced by all artists above. Check out the video downbelow and tell for yourself!
